Before the AFL NFL merger, the NFL had declared that stadiums with a capacity smaller than 5. The biggest stadium in the area was the University of Minnesotas Memorial Stadium, but the Vikings were not willing to be tenants in a college football stadium and demanded a new venue. Supporters of a dome also believed that the Minnesota Twins would benefit from a climate controlled stadium to insulate the team from harsh Minnesota weather later in the season. The Met would have likely needed to be replaced in any event, as it was not well maintained. Broken railings and seats could be seen in the upper deck by the early 1. Construction success of other domed stadiums, particularly the Pontiac Silverdome near Detroit, paved the way for voters to approve funding for a new stadium. Downtown Minneapolis was beginning a revitalization program, and the return of professional sports from suburban Bloomington was seen as a major success story. The Metrodome was recognized as one of the loudest venues in which to view a game, due in part to the fact that sound was recycled throughout the stadium because of the fabric domed roof. Stadium loudness is a sports marketing issue, as the noise lends the home team a home advantage against the visiting team. Until its demolition, the Metrodome was the loudest domed NFL stadium. 2. Cassini Took One Last Look at a Mysterious Glitch in Saturns Rings Before It Died. Peggy is something along the edge of Saturns ring, a glitch whose source weve never seen. Cassini took a last peek at Peggy during its Grand Finale destructive plunge, adding a final piece to the puzzle for future researchers to pore over when trying to understand this mysterious disturbance. Cassini project veteran Carl Murray of Queen Mary University of London recalls his first sighting of the ring glitch, in early 2. He was studying an image of Saturns moon Prometheus at the outside edge of the A ring, deliberately exposed to show the background stars. We saw this kind of bump glob feature object whatever, he told me last week, during the lunch break of the Cassini final Imaging Team meeting, as we chatted at the Huntington Botanical Gardens near Caltech. We obviously wanted to know, Was it real said Murray. He and his team quickly checked previous images of the area, and now that they knew what they were looking for, they kept finding that strange, stepped out glitch in the otherwise smoothly curving edge of the A ring. The day I found it was my mother in laws birthday, Murray recalled, so he named it Peggy in her honor. It seemed appropriate. Soon, the teams questions about Peggy expanded What is it Where did it come fromWhere is it going he explained. Weve been tracking it almost ever since. Murray and his colleagues realized the glitch must be caused by an object embedded in the rings. Weve never actually resolved the object, Murray said. All we can do is track the glitch. Measuring the size of the disturbance, he quickly realized it couldnt possibly be a solid moon. It would be a massive Titan size moon, Murray explained. If a moon that size was there, it would be totally disrupting the ring. Instead, he figured it must be a dense cloud of dust and debris, possibly encompassing a proto moon that hasnt yet broken free as an independent object. As the mysterious object drifts closer to and farther from Saturn within the rings, it causes the glitch along the outer edge to change speeds. By measuring the speed of the glitch, we can measure the orbital parameters of the object, Murray explained. Including Peggy in Cassinis final six images of the Saturn system was partly sentimental, but the spacecraft was also collecting valuable scientific information. Every image we get which should contain Peggy is yet another data point that will help us understand what it is, where it is, where its come from, and where its going to go even when were not around to take images any more, Murray said. The fact that its one of the last images from Cassini is touching, but were doing it for science. But tracking an object when you dont know what exactly that object is can be tricky. Cassinis imaging team has found Peggy time and time again, but not always where and when they expected it. Sometimes you see it, sometimes you dont, Murray said with a sigh. This uncertainty made planning the final image tricky. We actually gave Peggy a large margin of error because its a bit wayward sometimes. Adding to the complexity of the shot, Cassini was on the far side of the system, shooting the rings from across the planet. This means the resolution was lower at 2. Peggys characteristic glitch will only be a few hundred pixels in the image. Murray and his team stayed up late Thursday night waiting for the raw images to download. They brought everything they needed to analyze Peggy right away, working off nervous energy before joining others in standing vigil for Cassinis final moments. When I checked in with him via email on Friday, Murray was optimistic but uncertain Cassini had successfully found Peggy one final time, writing, I would like to think that it is in the one that also contains Daphnis, a tiny moon of Saturn that lies within the Keeler Gap of Saturns A ring, he said, before linking me to the raw image. Kevin Gill stayed up late on Thursday processing Cassinis final images for release on Friday morning. I couldnt find Peggy in the data though Im still looking, he told me, confirming the glitch is being characteristically difficult to identify. Peggys probably there, I just havent found exactly where yet. Im used to every day going to the computers when the images come down to just look for fun stuff, like Peggy explained Murray. Its going to take me awhile to get used not getting to see these images every day. Cassinis mission is done, and its raw image gallery will never have a new update. But Murray, his postdoc, and the rest of the mission scientists still have fruitful years ahead of them poking through thirteen years of data and trying to understand this beautiful, complex Saturnian system. Perhaps, theyll even come to understand Peggy a little bit better.

Orc Dungeons Dragons Wikipedia. In the Dungeons Dragons roleplaying game, orcs are a primitive race of savage, bestial, barbaric humanoid.Publication historyeditThe orc was one of the earliest creatures introduced in the D D game. The D D orc is largely based upon the orcs appearing in the works of J.R. humanoids, standing approximately 51.They are easily noticeable due to their green to gray skin, lupine ears, lower canines resembling boar tusks, and their muscular builds.Orcs stand in a bent over shape making them appear as ape like humans.Bestial and savage, orcs band together as trbes, living on hunting and raiding.Believing that the only way to survive is by expanding their territories, they have developed enmities wth many other races, although mainly elves and dwarves, as well as humans, gnomes, halflings, goblins, hobgoblins, and even other orc tribes.Even though they have good relationships with other evil humanoids in times of peace, their chaotic nature stops them from cooperating unless forced to do so by a powerful leader.Orcs live in a patriarchal society, taking pride on how many females and male children they have.Orcs like scars and take pride in exposing them, whether they are of a victory or loss.Their chief deity Gruumsh claims that the orc is the top of the food chain, and that all riches are the property of orcs stolen by others.SubtypeeditIn earlier editions of Dungeons Dragons, the orc was a subtype of goblinoid. In the third version, the orc was promoted to its own subtype. In earlier editionseditOrcs vary widely in appearance as a result of frequent crossbreeding with other species. In general, they resemble primitive humans with grey green skin covered with coarse hair.Orcs have a slightly stooped posture, a low jutting forehead, and a snout instead of a nose.Orcs have well developed canine teeth for eating meat and short pointed ears that resemble those of a wolf.Orcish snouts and ears have a slightly pink tinge.Their eyes are human, with a reddish tint that sometimes makes them appear to glow red when they reflect dim light sources in near darkness. This is actually part of their optical system, a pigment which gives them infravision.Male orcs are about 5 to 6 feet tall.Females average 6 inches shorter than males.Orcs prefer to wear colors that most humans think unpleasant blood red, rust red, mustard yellow, yellow green, moss green, greenish purple, and blackish brown.Their armor is unattractive besidesdirty and often a bit rusty.Orcs speak Orcish, a language derived from older human and elvish languages. There is no common standard of Orcish, so the language has many dialects which vary from tribe to tribe.Orcs have also learned to speak local common tongues, but are not comfortable with them. Some orcs have a limited vocabulary in goblin, hobgoblin, and ogre dialects.Earlier versions of Dungeons Dragons depicted orcs slightly differently. They were Lawful Evil and had fully porcine snouts. An illustration by David C.Sutherland III in the 1.Monster Manual clearly showed them with pig like faces, a depiction which persisted for several years. For example, illustrations accompanying the Dungeons Dragons tournament adventure Round the Bend, published in issue 1.Imagine magazine June 1.An insightful passage from the Monstrous Manual reads, Orcs have a reputation for cruelty that is deserved, but humans are just as capable of evil as orcs. The half orc in the original AD D game was a standard player character race, typically assuming the assassinclass.Half orcs were removed in the second edition of the game but were revived, albeit altered, in one of the 1.Players Option Skills Powersto the second edition rules.Half orcs also appear as a core playable race in D D 3rd edition.Orc crossbreedseditA fecund race, orcs often breed with other humanoid creatures.Known crossbreeds include Half orcs These orc human crossbreeds are most often born in as the unfortunate byproduct of raids in border areas between human and orc cultures.Despite rejection from both sides of their heritage, many half orcs achieve renown.Losels Losels are orc baboon crossbreeds bred by Iuz and the Scarlet Brotherhood because they reproduce faster than common orcs.Ogrillions These creatures are the brutish, armor skinned offspring of a female orc and a male ogre.Orogs An orog is the offspring of a male orc and a female ogre.Orogs usually live among orcs they are stronger, more intelligent, and more disciplined than typical orcs.Orcs in various campaign settingseditOrcs appear in nearly all published Dungeons Dragonssettings. Can I crack a password protected Microsoft Word file Dave, I just got another read only password protected Word file from my boss and Im hoping theres a way to sidestep the password because he gets really mad every time I ask him to unlock the file andor send me an unprotected version. I dunno if this is legal, though. Can you even answer this for me Okay, everyone who thinks this is illegal, click here and you can go shopping instead. Good, weve gotten rid of those sticklers and can talk about the relatively simple technique that you can use to sidestep the password protection on a Word file. Is it illegal I dont think so, since its a document that your boss sent you. Heres how you crack the password protected Microsoft Word file. First, open the document and do a Save As specifying Rich Text Format RTF. Itll end up being called something. Now open the RTF file by double clicking on it. It should look identical to the original Word file. Final step save the RTF file with a new name as a Microsoft Word format document. Thats all there is to it. Youve sidestepped the read only lock on the file your boss sent you and are good to go. In terms of actually breaking the password on a file that has it set as the open file password, thats beyond the scope of what Ill write about here. But I will say that there are some Google searches that can probably help you track down plenty of tips on doing just that.
